As part of the dismantling of the Südlink power line, Euro I.D. GmbH is supporting a research projectby the AG Feldhamsterschutz Niedersachsen and the University of Hildesheim on the reintroduction of field hamsters (Cricetus cricetus),using RFID readers and antennas.
The readers deployed in the reintroduction area are intended to provide insightsinto the activity rhythms and movement patterns of the reintroduced hamsters.
The RFID readers record the hamsters PIT tags as they pass the antennas.In this way, data on the activity, survival and spatial use of the released hamsters is collected without human intervention.
