Security and protection for an animal's entire life EURO I.D. RFID chips provide valuable services for laboratory animals as well as wild, zoo and domestic animals. In the selection bar on the left you will find further information about our products and other information and projects in the field of animal identification.
ISO transponders are the preferred choice for pets and zoo animals because the global standard ISO 11784/11785 guarantees compatibility with readers across borders.
Unmistakable animal identification for behavioural research
Behavioural research is an area in which animal identification with transponders offers many advantages. Here, the use of RFID technology enables the continuous collection of data over a long period of time and without the "distracting observer". In addition, data can also be recorded at night or in dark surroundings. The registration from the data logger is available with date and time in the form of Excel files and can therefore be quickly sorted and analysed. Euro I.D. co-operates with various research groups and is constantly designing special solutions to enable special outdoor recording. You can find more information here.
Avoiding errors with laboratory animals
In the laboratory (e.g. mice, rats, etc.), the unmistakable labelling of small animals is mandatory, as the study results are produced with a great deal of effort and money. Errors in data collection must therefore be avoided at all costs. Our small passive implantable transponders (PIT) are particularly suitable for this market segment. There is a choice between passive Trovan (PSK) and ISO transponders (ASK). PSK transmission is better at filtering out environmental interference, which results in reliable code transmission when small animals move quickly through (pipe) antennas that are in close proximity to each other.
In Germany alone, around 300,000 (!) animals escape every year.
In the pet identification sector, transponders offer a lifetime of security. With the tiny electronic identification chip, pet owners can protect their pets against theft, misuse and loss. Barely larger than a grain of rice, applied under the skin by a vet with a small "prick", the animal receives a unique and forgery-proof code that is stored in databases with the owner's data (e.g. at www.tasso.net).
Indispensable beyond borders
Animal identification by means of transponders is just as important for zoos. On the one hand, it is a matter of unmistakable labelling when external characteristics are not sufficient, and on the other hand it is a matter of complying with legal requirements for cross-border transports in connection with species protection agreements (CITES). There are many species, such as the hyacinth macaw, various snakes, fish, etc., where it is very difficult to distinguish individual animals from one another by external characteristics. RFID technology is the method of choice here. The animals are not disfigured by marks, tattoos or brands. The small transponder, the size of a grain of rice, provides an unforgeable, globally unique identification for each individual animal.
